Pretty Wings

So I heard my personal muse Maxwell on the radio yesterday (backdrop...I almost NEVER listen to regular old radio stations, either it's cd or talk radio) and who was on but Maxwell. Ever so graciously engaged in an interview with a lackluster announcer on a lackluster station. Now you all know that it has been a minute, ok seven years, since we have really heard from this brother. Seems to me, from what I hear it's about to be worth the wait. I believe his new album, which is a trilogy called "Black Summers Night" drops July 7th.

Suffice it to say, I am quickly falling in love with the first single "pretty wings"...check the link above. What I love about Maxwell is the love and respect for women that infuses his music. He makes me feel what he is feeling in a song. He clearly has some loving parents, bc this brother comes across as being strong, yet sensitive, in control, yet vulnerable....his music is magic to me.

Please take a moment to check out this video and when you can, support his efforts. I think that everyone I know has at least one favorite maxwell song. I have several :) His music is clearly a gift from God in my eyes.

So, as I posted to a couple of dear friends...as you listen to this song, remember this....we are free to chose our happiness. When relationships end (in business or love) we must allow our time to grieve, but remember that everything we experience, we do so for a reason. As I look back over my 25 years on this planet ;), there have been some very dark periods. However, given what i know now...those dark periods were necessary so that I would have a stark contrast with which to compare the illuminating light in which I walk now walk.

I am happy because I chose to be. Not because of the money I do or do not have, the places I do or do not go or the people I do or do not know. I am happy because i chose to do the work to strip away the bs in all situations to get down to what matters most....love (and of course a good piece of red velvet cake does not hurt :)

I wish for you all what I wish for myself...life, love and the pursuit of your personal happiness....it is not a destination ya'll...it is a choice...

spread your wings and be happy

k
ps....by the end of the interview I had developed a new found respect for the once "lacking in luster" interviewer...the station..not so much...lol :)
