Ladies and Gentlemen......Presenting one of the best that's ever done it - MC that is - AZ. His new album "Undeniable" is in stores now. Granted, AZ has never ranked on my top 10 list, but I like AZ because he is consistent. Has been ever since he so eloquently informed us, on Nas' classic "Illmatic", exactly what life was and what happens to you after it's over. Can you believe that was almost 15 years ago? Yeppers.
Alas, while not a top 10 contender, AZ has long been one of my road trip go-to- guys. Picture me on a summer's day, doing 85 down 95, sunroof open, shades tilted low, seat tilted lower, bass massaging my spine, me and AZ ridin' out! Agreeing, at least for that moment, that "Life's a ----- and then you --- that's why we get ---- cause ya' never know when you gonna go!" War & Peace it's not-but there is a time and place for everything & I love it!
Ever true, AZ always stays in his musical lane and seemingly continues to grow as his core audience has grown. I could do without the whole cigar/ bling thing, but we all have our vices, do we not :) Besides, it looks like his libation of choice is some type of red wine (a little help here from my more cultured folks) as opposed to some other stereotypically hip-hopperish booze - that should count for a little sumthin' sumthin' in the maturity dept.- I think.
"So" you ask "To what does AZ credit his longevity in this here hip-hop game?" Funny you should ask. I happen to hear him reveal his ancient Chinese secret to a local radio host just this very morning. "I am a trend setter- not a trend sweater" he proclaimed. Hey, whatever works!
BTW, to all concerned citizens, I don't listen to this type of "rap" when Jah is around. Thanks for checking though, it does take a village! Also, I am having some technical difficulties enforcing the spacing I want in these last three paragraphs- I am still learning- thanks for bearing with a sista!

I am impressed with your dedication. 4 days and still rolling or shall I say writing! Can't say that I have ever heard of AZ, but I will give him a try. I'm currently digging Hil St. Soul. The CD is a couple of years old but the sound is good.
I am hoping you re-think your Spring travel plans. It's been too long since you have spent a week laying on my couch!
Love ya,
Kecia
